The price of homes continued to increase last month, while the sales picture was mixed, according to a report issued by the San Diego Association of Realtors.

According to SDAR data, the median price of a single-family home in October was $580,000. That's 2 percent more than in September, and 12 percent higher than October of last year.

For attached homes like condominiums and townhouses, the median sales price last month was $380,500, or 2 percent more than the month before and 9 percent above October 2015.

The SDAR reported that 1,927 houses changed hands last month, 7 percent fewer than the month before, but 1 percent — equaling 10 residences — more than October of last year.

For condos and townhouses, 1,014 sold in October, 9 percent fewer than September but 2 percent over October 2015.

The most expensive property sold in the county last month was a 6,350- square-foot, five-bedroom, six-bath residence with an ocean view in Encinitas, built in 2003, for a price of $11.1 million.
