In season six of “A Growing Passion,” host Nan Sterman takes viewers to a fruit farm in the Central Valley, a plumeria festival at Balboa Park and the gardens of several local artists.

"What we really are is about showing the power of plants in our world. And so every season we have categories, we have a little bit of science, a little bit of gardening, a little bit of edibles, a little bit on the farm and in the nursery. We have all these different ways of looking at plants, so you kind of get this 360-degree view," said Sterman.

The latest season of "A Growing Passion" debuts Thursday on KPBS Television.

Sterman previews the show and her new book,"Hot Color, Dry Garden," Thursday on Midday Edition.
