“It’s like a cathartic feeling for the times that I’ve seen crimes that happen, people losing their lives, losing their livelihoods.”

That’s how Andi Dukleth describes the relationship between her career as a 10 News photojournalist and her passion as a comic book artist. Dukleth is a member of the comic book artist group Accidental Aliens.

“We are just a ragtag team of comic book artists. We’ve always kind of felt offset from the mainstream,” Dukleth said.

The group used the crowdfunding website Kickstarter to publish their anthology. This year, Dukleth is among eight authors who have short comics featured in the book.

Dukleth’s story, "Live from the Apocalypse,” tells the story of how local news would cover the story of the collapse of society.

“My characters are sort of an amalgamation of people that I’ve known. I didn’t want to base it off of one reporter because I still have to work with them. Imagine how awkward that would be,” Dukleth said.
