You likely may not be looking forward to doing your taxes this year. For some lower-income filers, there’s free help.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, also known as VITA, places trained volunteers in regions across the country, including more than two dozen in San Diego. You may be eligible for the service if you make less than $54,000, need assistance with English or have a disability.

U.S. Congressman Juan Vargas is hosting a one-time VITA location Friday at the SDSU Imperial Valley campus in Calexico, but other sites will be open through tax day in April.
