Famed Ocean Researcher Walter Munk Dies At 101

Walter Munk, the famed geophysicist who turned a lifetime of questions into a spectacular career at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, died Friday at his home in La Jolla. He was 101.
Munk made groundbreaking observations of waves, ocean temperature, tidal energy in the deep ocean, ocean acoustics and the rotation of the Earth, according to a press release from Scripps Institution.
KPBS Environment Reporter Erik Anderson sat down with him in October 2017 to reflect on Munk's 100th birthday and the long scientific journey that brought him world renown. Here is that interview:
