San Diego's National University Gets $20 Million Donation

An anonymous donor has given National University in San Diego $20 million to expand programs aimed at inspiring teachers and helping children get along with one another.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the gift is the largest in the university's 44-year history.

Combined with a 50 percent matching contribution from the university's endowment, the donation means $30 million more to the school's Sanford Education Center.

The new funds will be used to expand the Sanford Harmony Program for the social and emotional development of children in preschool through sixth grade and the Sanford Inspire Program to create inspirational teachers from preschool to 12th grade.

An anonymous donor gave the education center $9.22 million in July 2014, the second-largest donation ever given to the school.
