San Diego's Briana Provancha Named To US Olympic Sailing Team

Briana Provancha of San Diego and Annie Haeger of East Troy, Wisconsin, have been named to the U.S. Olympic sailing team in the 470 class.

It will be the first Olympics for both sailors.

Haeger and Provancha won the 2015 Olympic Test Event in Rio de Janeiro and have been the top U.S. athletes in their class for the past 3 1/2 years.

Haeger and Provancha have been teammates since 2008. They both graduated from Boston College.

Their selection was announced Sunday during the European Championships.

Earlier this year, Haeger was named US Sailing Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year.
