A wind advisory for San Diego County was issued by the National Weather Service for Monday and is expected to be in effect from noon until 9 p.m. for the beaches and inland valleys and from noon until 11 p.m. for the mountain and desert areas.

Winds were expected to in the 15-20 mph range with gusts up to 35 mph at the beaches. Stronger winds were forecast for the mountains and deserts, 30- 40 mph by Monday afternoon with gusts of 50 to 60 mph. Blowing sand and dust could make traveling in the mountains hazardous, especially in high profile vehicles.
