A wind advisory for San Diego County was issued by the National Weather Service for Monday and is expected to be in effect from noon until 9 p.m. for the beaches and inland valleys and from noon until 11 p.m. for the mountain and desert areas.
Winds were expected to in the 15-20 mph range with gusts up to 35 mph at the beaches. Stronger winds were forecast for the mountains and deserts, 30- 40 mph by Monday afternoon with gusts of 50 to 60 mph. Blowing sand and dust could make traveling in the mountains hazardous, especially in high profile vehicles.
The National Weather Service also issued a beach hazards statement, warning beachgoers to be careful of rip currents.
