Real estate firm HomeUnion looked at a variety of factors to determine the best trick-or-treating neighborhoods around the county, including median home prices, neighborhood safety and density.
The firm ranked Coronado Beach South Island the 9th best neighborhood to go to on Halloween. Areas in Washington D.C., Boston, Chicago, Dallas and San Francisco also made it in the top 10.
Homes in the San Diego County neighborhood were found to have a median price of $1.4 million, with just over 4,000 homes per square mile.
So what does trick-or-treating look like in Coronado?
KPBS visited the neighborhood for a sneak peek.
Dozens of houses are elaborately decorated, while others have opted for a more traditional Halloween decor. One house on Glorietta Boulevard features a Día De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) display. But don't expect candy here. Instead, the owners will be handing out special Día De Los Muertos cookies.
On Margarita Avenue, near 6th Street, the Bernard family proudly displays their haunted house. For the last four years, Lori and her twin 15-year-old boys Rhonin and Connor, have created a popular haunted house.
"My mom goes nuts on Halloween," said Rhonin. "Every time after school I just come back and there's always like one or two people just taking pictures."
The family said last year they gave out 3,000 pieces of candy.
"We made the mistake the first year of handing out handfuls of candy," said Lori. "We ran out really quickly."
It takes the Bernard's around two weeks to set up their Halloween decorations. They get help from friends and family each year and believe Coronado deserves to be a top trick-or-treating spot.
"Everyone just goes insane," said Rhonin. "They're like 'Halloween, have to prepare!' I think there are like two other haunted houses."
If you are thinking about visiting the area in Coronado, beware. Since it is such a popular destination, the City of Coronado shuts down parts of Margarita Avenue from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
“There’s buses, there’s big vans of people they come from all over," said Lori. "It is a really safe, fun place to trick or treat.”
