In a London court, 11 people hear charges filed against them in connection with the alleged plot to blow up U.S.-bound airliners. The suspects, shuttled into the courthouse in separate vans, appeared briefly to hear indictments that range from conspiracy to commit murder to preparing explosives for terrorism.
Since being arraigned means that the 11 suspects can no longer be questioned by police, their cases will rest on evidence gathered so far. But 11 other suspects are still in police custody, under interrogation, and likely to be held for another two weeks.
