Prominent investigative journalist Anna Politkovskaya was murdered in Russia on Saturday. She was found shot dead in her Moscow apartment building.
Politkovskaya had reported extensively on human rights abuses by Russian security forces in Chechnya. She had also published a book, only available in the West, that was highly critical of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
