It's been nearly 15 years since San Diego author Richard Louv coined the term nature-deficit disorder, which inspired a movement to connect children with nature.

In his latest book, Louv continues to build on those themes by exploring the benefits of connecting with animals. In "Our Wild Calling," Louv documents how animals can transform one's physical, mental and spiritual well-being. He will be speaking about his book Tuesday at Casa del Prado in Balboa Park.
