I mentioned this briefly on the blog a couple of weeks ago, but it's worth reminding you all that the RecruitMilitary Opportunity Expo will take place next Thursday, September 23, 2010 at NTC Promenade - McMillin Companies Event Center, 2875 Dewey, San Diego, CA 92106, 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
The unemployment rate among veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan is far too high, but to their credit, San Diego and surrounding-area companies are making a concerted effort to change that. More than 300 veterans are expected to attend this special event intended to help our recently returning troops and other veterans and service members and their spouses with employment, entrepreneurship, and educational opportunities.
Veterans will be able to interview with an all-star team of national, regional, and local employers at the RecruitMilitary Opportunity Expo. This event is produced in cooperation with The American Legion; Purple Heart Services; and the Military Spouse Corporate Career Network (MSCCN). Read more about this Opportunity Expo here.
RecruitMilitary, which was founded in 1988 by Drew Myers, formerly a Captain in the United States Marine Corps., has produced Opportunity Expos since 2006. The company also offers subscriptions to its database of more than 460,000 registered candidates who have military backgrounds at this website. RecruitMilitary distributes more than 36,000 copies of each issue of Search & Employ, a bimonthly print magazine, to more than 220 military bases throughout the world, National Guard and reserve units, and job seekers who attend RecruitMilitary Opportunity Expos.
