Earlier this month, the Pentagon was forced by a federal judge to put a stop to "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," which bans gays and lesbians from openly serving in the military. But the Justice Department has appealed the judge's decision and a federal appeals court granted a temporary stay of the injunction. Meanwhile, this week some conclusions of a widely distributed Pentagon survey asking troops and their families for their thoughts about the policy have been leaked to the press. Details of the survey have still not been released by the Pentagon, and aren't expected until December.
