"Don't Ask, Don't Tell" Has Affected Women More Than Men

Repeated surveys have shown that since the policy was implemented during the Clinton Administration, "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," which prohibits gays and lesbians from openly serving in the military, has affected female troops more than male troops percentage-wise.

According to USA Today, a survey compiled by the gay rights group Servicemembers United from Defense Department numbers found that while women were 14 percent of the military, they accounted for 34 percent of the discharges.
