Having lived in the South, I know how quickly a thunderstorm can become something terrifying. The clouds become strange versions of green and purple, and suddenly all the radio and television stations are telling you to take cover in the most interior part of your house, because a tornado has been sighted in your area.
I can't imagine, though, the terror that the residents of the Tarawa Terrace II housing area at the Camp Lejeune Marine Base endured when several tornadoes touched down in their own backyards and destroyed several of the homes there, according to local TV station WCTI:
