The Pentagon Channel is reporting Osama bin Laden's body was dumped into the sea (or buried at sea if you prefer) from the deck of the San Diego-based USS Carl Vinson. The United Kingdom newspaper the Telegraph reports those aboard the Carl Vinson performed accepted Muslim death customs on bin Laden's body before they slipped him into the sea.
An unnamed senior defense official told the Telegraph the gory (my word) details:
Wow. The Telegraph also reports bin Laden was buried at sea because Saudi Arabia refused to accept his body. Gee, wonder why.
For all you conspiracy theorists out there, the Associated Press reports that Osama bin Laden was both visually identified after death (by one of his wives and members of the U.S. Raid squad) and with D.N.A. matched to bin Laden's dead sister's brain.
