Home Post Blog: If the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers decides to open the Morganza spillway this weekend, it could save the Louisiana cities of New Orleans and Baton Rouge from catastrophic flooding by the Mississippi River. Reuters reports:
The Corps expected the flow of water at the Red River Landing would reach 1.5 million cubic feet per second over the weekend, which is the minimum needed to open the Morganza spillway for the first time since 1973. (Read more)
