The four NATO troops killed today by a homemade bomb in Afghanistan were Americans, according to the Associated Press. An anonymous Pentagon official told the A.P. an improvised explosive devise, or I.E.D., exploded and killed the four troops. 16 NATO troops have died so far this month in Afghanistan, including the four killed today.
Reuters furthers the story a bit by reporting the bomb was homemade, and killed the four NATO-led International Security Assistance Force members in the southern part of Afghanistan. According to Reuters:
The Department of Defense has not yet released the names of the four servicemembers killed, because their families have not yet been notified.
