Pilot Writes of Bringing Home Men Killed in Chinook Crash

Home Post Blog: The nation was stunned last week when insurgents in Afghanistan brought down a CH-47 helicopter with 38 men on board. The August 6 crash killed everyone on the Chinook, including 30 United States servicemembers (17 of whom were Navy SEALs) and eight Afghans.

On August 9, the bodies of the men killed in the crash arrived home to the United States at Dover Air Force Base. Edward “Geno” Redmond, a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, posted a special tribute to the fallen on his Facebook page, written by one of the unnamed pilots who flew the men home. (Read more)
