The response to Lisa Pembleton's photo taken at her cousin Jon Tumilson's funeral has been overwhelming. The photograph, on the right, shows Tumilson's faithful dog Hawkeye refusing to leave his beloved master's side, even in death. Navy SEAL Tumilson was among 30 American servicemembers killed when an Afghan insurgent shot down their Chinook helicopter.
Many of you have contacted Home Post, concerned about Hawkeye's future. Some of you have even offered to adopt Hawkeye if he had no other place to go. Well, I'm happy to report (courtesy of the Daily Mail) that Tumilson's friend,
Jon Tumilson was at one point a San Diego resident. His friends planned a memorial run in his honor earlier this month.
