New Hope for Military Families with Special Needs Children

Many military families struggle with finding the best care for children with special needs. Now researchers at the Beach Center on Disability at the University of Kansas are taking a closer look at ways to help those families out.

Head researcher Rud Turnbull is also an Army veteran. He says his team has been interviewing every type of servicemember from all walks of life, from generals to new recruits. The goal is to find out what works best for families:

Turnbull says he wants families with special-needs children to know that when they arrive at a new base, they'll get the same high-quality services for their kids as they did at their previous installation.
