School Meal Prices Go Up for Overseas Military Families

Starting January 3rd, the cost of breakfast or lunch through the DoD Student Meal Program (for overseas students) will increase 35 cents. Families who participate in the Free and Reduced Meal Program will not be affected by the price change.

Charles S. Clymer Jr. with the Navy's Fleet and Family Readiness explains the reason for the increase:

According to Department of Defense Education Activity, elementary school students will pay $2.40 for their meals, and secondary students $2.55 starting January 3rd.
