It will be up to Department of Defense officials to decide whether or not the Camp Pendleton cross will remain where it is, according to the North County Times.
As Home Post reported last month, Americans United for Separation of Church and State and the Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers are calling for the removal of the cross, saying it's unconstitutional to have a religious symbol on a public land.
