Camp Pendleton Wife Has Groundbreaking Surgery (Video)

Marine wife Clerisa Kiersey, whose husband is based at Camp Pendleton, is the first person in California to undergo a groundbreaking surgery where the liver is completely removed, then repaired, then put right back inside the body.

KPBS-TV reports the 27-year-old Kiersey had a malignant tumor on her liver that was threatening her life. Dr. Alan Hemming of UCSD Medical Center performed the 8-hour surgery, which returned Kiersey to good health.

Here's the KPBS story on Kiersey's surgery. I've got to warn you if you're the squeamish type: there's some graphic video involved.
