The wife of Staff Sgt. Robert Bales spoke out publicly for the first time yesterday, albeit in a written statement released through her attorney. Karilyn Bales called the murder of 16 Afghan civilians- most of whom were women and children - a "terrible and heartbreaking tragedy." Her husband is accused of the massacre.
