The White House confirmed today the death of Abu Yahya al-Libi, the man considered the "general manager" of al-Qaida and second-in-command of the terrorist organization.
Al-Libi was killed by a CIA drone strike in Pakistan, according to several media outlets.
White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters today:
“We believe al-Libi's death is a major blow to core al-Qaida, removing the No. 2 leader for the second time in less than a year and further damaging the group's morale and cohesion, and bringing it closer to its ultimate demise than ever before."
Carney described al-Libi as al-Qaida's "general manager" in charge of the terrorist organization's day-to-day operations and recruitment efforts.
