NATO has confirmed that the six troops killed in a roadside bomb in eastern Afghanistan on Sunday were all Americans.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the fatal bombing, according to the Associated Press.
The identities of those killed have not yet been released.
CNN reports the IED blast was part of a string of deadly bombings throughout Afghanistan on Sunday. At least 26 people were killed in the attacks, including 14 Afghans, mostly women and children, who died in Kandahar province when their vehicles were hit by roadside bombs.
Kandahar Police Chief Gen. Abdul Raziq said in a statement:
"This is the act of the enemy of our people who are restlessly trying to kill our innocent people."
