Folks from the military, law enforcement, and medical fields will soon be experts in how to deal with the undead, thanks to next month's Counter-Terrorism Summit in San Diego, put on by a private security firm. The HALO Corporation will bring in a crop of zombies to the five-day event to train first-responders how to deal with a possible future zombie threat.
HALO president Brad Barker told the Military Times that the incorporation of zombies into the summit is an attempt to bring whimsy to the event:
The zombies who roam the island will harass the troops, first-aid teams and medical responders participating, Barker said. HALO declined to detail the scenario just yet, saying only that the idea is to challenge authorities as they respond to extreme medical situations where people become crazed and violent, creating widespread fear and disorder.
The zombie apocalypse is just one possible terrorist scenario first-responders will have to tackle during the summit. But it is definitely is the most creative.
The summit takes place at the Paradise Point resort in Mission Bay from October 29 to November 2. I suppose the zombies won't have to find a costume for Halloween...
