A Marine helicopter assigned to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing made an emergency landing Monday night on the Pala Mesa Resort's golf course.
The four Marines aboard the UH-1Y Huey, all based at Camp Pendleton, were not hurt in the incident, according to KFMB-TV:
The pilot says the aircraft was about to drop like a rock, so he landed in the safest place possible. The pilot says the golf course was perfect because there's easy access for the maintenance truck.
The reason for the emergency landing? The helicopter ran out of fuel, according to television station 7 San Diego.
