President Barack Obama has nominated Navy Rear Adm. Kenneth E. Floyd for assignment as commander of the Third Fleet, which is based in San Diego, according to the Department of Defense.
Obama also nominated Floyd for appointment to the rank of vice admiral.
Floyd currently serves as assistant deputy chief of Naval Operations for Warfare Systems at the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, located at the Pentagon.
