The Department of Defense's casualty report for March shows no member of the United States military died in combat.
Time magazine reports it's the first time an entire month has passed since February 2003 without a U.S. military fatality in either Iraq or Afghanistan.
CNN Librarian Lindsey Knight calculated there have been just two months besides March 2014 that no American troops died in combat in Afghanistan. Those months are January 2007 and July 2002.
NBC News reports two NATO ISAF service members died last month in Afghanistan...
...but both were considered non-combat casualties.
The Associated Press estimates 2,176 U.S. service members have died in the war in Afghanistan since 2001.
