Seven Policemen Indicted for Katrina Shootings

In New Orleans, seven police officers have been indicted by a state grand jury looking into the fatal shooting of two people in the chaotic days following Hurricane Katrina.

The incident in question took place on the Danziger Bridge, which connects two predominately black neighborhoods that were flooded by the storm.

Although the details surrounding the shootings remain murky, three federal civil-rights lawsuits were filed against a group of New Orleans police officers, charging that they gunned down unarmed civilians.
