Minnesota's Democratic Rep. Walks Line on Iraq War

Freshman Rep. Tim Walz (D-MN) ousted a six-term GOP incumbent in 2006 by running on an anti-war platform. He was among the House Democrats who voted for an unsuccessful amendment calling for the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq within 90 days.

Still, Walz went ahead last week and voted for the supplemental war funding. At events back in Walz's district during the Memorial Day break, many of Walz's constituents agreed with his votes.

Most House Democrats voted against the bill. But the majority of the chamber's 30 newly elected Democrats voted in favor of it.
