New Online Game Lets You Balance The State Budget

Ever thought about how you would whittle away California's $20 billion deficit? You can try your hand at balancing the budget in the newest edition of the "Budget Challenge." It's an online game created by Next Ten, a non-partisan group that focuses on the state budget, economy and the environment.

Noel Perry heads Next Ten. He says the program educates Californians about the complicated budget process.

"It allows the citizens of California to be able to understand the difficult trade-offs that are involved in the difficult budgeting process in Sacramento," said Perry.

Perry says about 150,000 people have completed the challenge since 2005. He says many of them send their plans to their state lawmakers.
