California Governor Jerry Brown says he’s willing to share the pain of proposed budget cuts. Brown is asking state workers to take a 5% pay cut in his revised budget proposal.
After speaking with a group of business leaders at the California Chamber of Commerce today, Brown told reporters he’s open to the idea of taking a cut himself. “I’m planning to work through the proposal with the public employees and I’ve said to leadership, certainly the agency heads and myself will do more than we ask anyone else to do,” said Brown.
Members of the California Citizens Compensation Commission said earlier this week that a pay cut proposal for officeholders will be on the table at their next meeting.
That would include legislators and constitutional officers.
