The Department of Justice in San Diego is standing by in case there are federal issues with Tuesday’s voting.
Potential voter fraud, voter intimidation, or election interference from a foreign power are several things federal officials would be called in to deal with.
“We are prepared at our command post to respond to complaints as they come in,” said Christopher Tenorio, the region’s district election officer at the Department of Justice.

Tenorio says federal officials have rarely encountered problems during San Diego elections.
However, the Department of Justice election team has expanded this year to protect against possible foreign threats.
“The new threat of potential foreign interference has brought some new people to our working group, people that our responding to national intel or computer intrusion reports,” Tenorio said.
Federal officials are hoping for an uneventful day.
