Fire Damages Gift Shop At San Diego Zoo

About two dozen firefighters quickly tackled a fire in a large San Diego Zoo gift shop early today, authorities said.

The noninjury fire in the 12,000-square-foot panda-themed shop was reported at 1:49 a.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Crews knocked down the blaze within about 15 minutes, and it did not spread to any animal exhibits or other zoo shops, SDFRD spokesman Maurice Luque said.
