Starting today, San Diego County residents looking to beat the summer heat are invited to go to one of 100 designated Cool Zone locations throughout the region.
The county-sponsored Cool Zones program directs residents, especially seniors, the low-income and the disabled, to go to public facilities that have air conditioners running on extremely hot days.
Residents can find the sites by looking for window signs with a light blue logo featuring a polar bear. Typical sites are libraries, recreation centers and senior centers.
The annual Cool Zones program runs through September.
