The evening will feature a screening of the acclaimed Frontline documentary "Putin vs. the Press", followed by an interactive advocacy session where attendees will have the opportunity to take action on behalf of journalists facing persecution, imprisonment, and violence for doing their jobs. “In an era of disinformation, censorship, and rising authoritarianism, journalists, reporters, writers, and bloggers are increasingly targeted for exposing the truth,” said a spokesperson for Group 471. “This event is a chance to raise awareness and stand in solidarity with those who risk their lives to keep the public informed.” The event is open to all and aims to engage the community in defending press freedom and the individuals who uphold it around the globe.   • Sunday, June 15, from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. Come and explore the gorgeous natural blue of indigo in this Fiber Fest Sunday workshop. Students will learn a range of shibori dye resist processes in this hands-on, creative workshop, including tegumo (spiderweb), ori nui (stitched), and itajime (clamped) shibori methods. We will be using a natural indigo vat to dye a bamboo scarf and better understand the process and symbiotic relationship with indigo dye and this traditional textile surface design. Students will acquire the basic techniques to continue their journey into creating beautiful, unique textiles. This class is appropriate for ages 14+ years old. No prior experience necessary. All ages welcome! All materials included. This workshop is part of Craft Collective’s 2nd annual Fiber Fest! Join in the main day of festivities on Saturday, June 14th, for a day filled with fiber fun!
