  • This holiday season, Gelson’s is making it easy to celebrate with complete Christmas meals, a la carte sides, desserts, and a curated selection of wines, bubbles and floral arrangements. Christmas meal options include Roasted Turkey, Spiral Glazed Ham, Prime Rib and Brisket (Certified Angus Beef), Poached or Spicy Salmon, and Meatloaf. Tamales are available in Beef Barbacoa, Green Chili and Cheese, or Chicken with Green Sauce. Customers can enjoy sides like mashed potatoes, cornbread stuffing, creamed corn, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, turkey gravy, and more, along with desserts including pumpkin, pecan, and apple pies, spiral churros, and other seasonal treats.   • The Latinx New Play Festival expands the presence of Latinx stories on the American stage, and spotlights the broad range of today’s Latinx experience. Four scripts were selected to be rehearsed and developed at the Playhouse, culminating in a live public reading at the festival. The festival is free for everyone to attend, and will include a schedule of in-person readings of new works, panel discussions and other events. This year’s festival programming includes Our Lady of the San Diego Convention Center by Mario Vega, Tempt Me by Andrew Rincón, Ama. Egg. Oyá. by Lori Felipe-Barkin and NOVIOS by Arturo Luíz Soria. Co-produced by TuYo Theatre and La Jolla Playhouse, the Latinx New Play Festival was originally launched in 2017 by San Diego Repertory Theatre, led and curated by TuYo Co-Artistic Director Dr. Maria Patrice Amon.   • Enjoy an exciting and memorable Christmas performance guaranteed to put you in the holiday spirit, “Merry & Bright, Holidays in Harmony” with 80+ singers featuring the nine-time International Chorus Champions Masters of Harmony based in Los Angeles, joined by their guest, award-winning Pacific Coast Harmony chorus of La Jolla, on Saturday, December 6 at 3 p.m. The acoustics in the beautiful Sanctuary are extraordinary and vibrant thus expanding the close harmony and magic the two choruses create. It’s a thrill for performers and the audience as well! The venue is suited for musical performances from string quartets and small orchestras to vocal extravaganzas. The surroundings are stunning with handcrafted tile mosaics under an exceptionally awe-inspiring dome covered with a mosaic image of Jesus further enhancing the ambiance and reason for the season.   • TYP is holding auditions for "Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812," our first show of the 2026 season, on Monday, November 10 from 4:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. at our rehearsal space at 7960 University Ave, Suite 240/250, La Mesa CA 91942. Callbacks are by invitation only on Tuesday, November 11 from 4:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. This show is for actors 12 years old and older. To register for an audition time, please email your headshot and resume to Jessica at jessica@typsandiego.org. Please prepare a one-minute song selection in a musical theater style. You will sing with a backing track that you provide. NO cappella auditions. Please check-in 15 minutes prior to your audition time. We will consider video auditions. **If you have been in one of our shows over the past year, then you are not required to audition. However, you must send us an email indicating your interest. You will be invited straight to callbacks. We are looking for a diverse cast to bring this popular musical to life. We will consider double casting some of the roles if needed. Moana and the legendary demigod Maui embark on an epic journey of self-discovery and camaraderie as both learn to harness the power that lies within. With empowering messages of bravery and selflessness, "Moana Jr." is sure to bring out the hero within each of us. Auditions and callbacks will be on the first day of rehearsal, so you will leave knowing your role! Every person will have a named role and lines.
