For many of the poets of Ukraine, the war is not some distant event one hears about in the papers. It is part of their personal history. Yet in most of the poems, the war is not the focal point. It’s a blur…it is what blurs all of other images, distorting them, changing them into something new and strange. The violence is outside the frame. We sense it, without seeing it. What makes the images in these poems beautiful is the spirit of power and hope they conveyed, a commitment to victory against all odds. Please join us for a workshop of reading, discussion and writing prompts including the sharing of our poetry.
