You will learn a range of shibori dye resist processes in this creative workshop, including tegumo (spiderweb), ori nui (stitched), and itajime (clamped) shibori methods. You will also have the unique opportunity to work on a large and light organic cotton shawl (can be used as a bed cover). This textile will be approximately 40″ x 65″ and you’ll embellish it through shibori methods, followed by dyeing it in a natural indigo vat. You will gain a better understanding of the process and symbiotic relationship between indigo dye and this traditional textile surface design. This is a unique opportunity to learn the basic techniques to continue your journey into creating beautiful, unique textiles. Materials fee: $10 (cash) to be paid to instructor at the start of the workshop. This class is appropriate for ages 14+ years old. This class is designed for beginners as well as returning students.   • Make Tiny Ceramics! Saturday, September 20, 10 a.m. - Noon Join us in the land of miniatures. You will learn how and get to create tiny pottery on a mini pottery wheel. No previous pottery experience necessary! In this 2-hour class, you will learn to create 1-3 tiny pots and can add some color if you would like to. You will learn how to center the clay and open it up to form tiny pots, bowls, or plates. This class is a great way to learn the basics of a wheel on a small scale. It is less intimidating and is an accessible way to throw and center clay. Grab a friend or family member who’s been curious about ceramics and come join me in creating tiny pottery! Projects will be ready to pick up 3-4 weeks after class. No experience necessary. Ages 12+ welcome!
