Create your own Air Plant Holder! Wednesday, August 6, from 6 p.m. 8:30 p.m. In this 2.5-hour class, you will be making an air plant holder. There are many variations of designs for these vessels, and many options for surface design. We will explore texture using tools and objects to create unique designs and shapes that will dazzle your plants and bring the beauty to your home. Your piece will be fired as-is (no glaze) for a natural, earthen aesthetic. If you’d like to make more than one plant holder during class and have time remaining, additional holders can be made for a $5 fee. Projects will be ready to pick up 3-4 weeks after class. No experience necessary. All materials and tools provided. Learn to needle felt! Saturday, July 12, from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. Have you ever wished you’d stumble upon a tiny fairy house while walking in a deep forest? Join felting artist Sophie Ancel in this 3-hour workshop where you’ll learn to make your own little house using needle felting techniques. Students will use natural wool roving and batting, felt, beads and simple embroidery. The class requires the use of sharp felting needles and we will cover how to safely use felting needles. Guards will also be provided. Each student will have the option of creating a tiny home equipped with a door, window, and decorated with flowers and leaves. This little home can be used as a box as the roof can act as a lid! You will be given a tiny light for added fairy house magic. No experience necessary. Ages 12+ welcome. PANCA will be showing a whole new body of work of more than 15 paintings and a mural. With this exhibition, PANCA reflects on the binational and transborder experience amid the political turmoil and violent immigration policies. "Me voy pa´l pueblo" is the dream of escaping the current USA administration and, a look into Paola´s experience of moving back to Mexico after living in the USA for 3 years. "ME VOY PA’L PUEBLO" is a homage to the immigrant community who just like Paola´s parents, moved to the USA when she was a child, in search of a better life. For designers, creatives, and the general public interested in natural color in textiles and its possible modifications. Learn from the experts! This class is led by Mildred and Sama Barrios, who run a Mexico-based natural color studio called SUULA. In this hands-on workshop, participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of modifying natural color. In the realm of natural dyeing, modifiers involve the partial or total application of substances such as vinegar, iron oxide, and baking soda, among others, to fabric dyed with natural dyes. This process alters the tone of the dye, allowing for a wider variety of colors or the creation of patterns and designs on the fabric. Some dyes react more strongly than others to these modifiers.
