Mission Bay Drive: (0 to 1 mile) Street parking on E. Mission Bay Drive is available in front of Tecolote Shores and to the north of the Start / Finish area. These spaces are expected to fill up first. Note, the spaces in front of Tecolote Shores are "Back In Only" so please be careful when backing into the spots. Tecolote Shores North Parking Lot: (.1 mile) Lmited number of spaces at the Tecolote Shores North parking lot. Again, these will fill up quickly so if you are arriving after 6:15 am we anticipate this lot will be full. Playa Pacifica Parking Lot: (.5 mile) There are several parking areas at Playa Pacifica with approximately 150 spaces. Playa Pacifica North Parking Lot: (.9 mile) One of the larger parking lots with approximately 200 spaces. E. Mission Bay Dr, Just South of Clairemont Dr: (1.3 miles) Easy access from Hwy 5 and the Clairemont Dr Exit. Has approximately 80 spots E. Mission Bay Dr, Just North of Clairemont Dr: (1.5 miles) Easy access from Hwy 5 and the Clairemont Dr Exit. Has approximately 250 spots Sun Runner Parking Lot: (.5 miles) Dirt parking lot located to the South of Sea World Dr and E. Mission Bay Drive / Pacific Hwy. We recommend this as a backup lot only because it does not have defined parking spaces. We will have rows coned off for parking to help with the parking flow. Please reference this parking map. To get to the Start / Finish you will need to walk and cross over Sea World Drive and then follow E. Mission Bay Drive to the Start / Finish.

  • Purpose: Raise funds for our Live Your Dream program. Funds will be distributed to women who are head of household to pursue their educational and career goals. You are invited to the 13th Annual Reel Women Film Festival. This one day festival is the primary fundraiser for the Soroptimist International Oceanside Carlsbad. There will be food, music, opportunities to donate and films from 1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 4 at Dove Library. We are so excited to announce this year's film selections: 1. "ANUJA" is an incredible story of resilience, sisterhood, and hope. It was a Live Action Short nomination in this year's Academy Awards. 2. "Honor the Earth" is an award-winning film about Native American, Winona LaDuke and her organization's fight to protect the earth. 3. "Once More, Like Rain Man" is a film directed by and starring an autistic young woman who documents her experiences auditioning for autistic roles. 4. "Beyond the Herd" tells of the experiences of a Hispanic cowgirl dedicated to saving wild mustangs. 5. "Rewilding" In this student film, Anna finds herself spiraling after suffering PTSD from traumatic experiences serving on the front lines as a nurse during the COVID pandemic. In an effort to heal, she heads to the forest in search of a connection back to nature and herself. 6. "This Land While" running 150 miles through U.S. National Monuments, one woman’s personal journey investigates the history of inclusion in these special places. 7. "The Impossible Ride" This documentary features Soroptimist International Oceanside- Carlsbad member and past president Denise Mueller as she sets the world speed record on a bike at 183 MPH.   • This class will explore the range of techniques possible when using acrylics, with emphasis on saturated color and creativity. Students will be encouraged to paint freely and spontaneously. Materials: Paint: Fast-drying acrylics are recommended, although students may opt for the “open” (slow-drying) type if they prefer. Brand names include Liquitex, Golden, Utrecht, and Winsor & Newton. Colors: Cadmium Yellow Medium, Yellow Oxide or Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Red Light, Naphthol Crimson, Phthalo Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Titanium White. Other useful colors: Brilliant Purple, Dioxazine Purple, Hookers Green Deep Hue Permanent. The first six colors and Titanium White are a must-have. Any other colors the student may have are encouraged. Brushes: Brights, #2, #4, #6. (Winsor & Newton University brand is good.); any bristle brush students may have. Supports: Small canvas panels, 5” x 7”, 6” x 8”, 8” x 8”, 8” x 10.” These can be purchased at Michaels (quite inexpensive and good quality). Other: Support for the panels (thick cardboard, etc.); disposable or covered palette; paper towels; finger sprayer; water container; roll of masking tape; selection of photo references (still life, flowers, landscape, and people in groups).
