  • Explore clay surface design techniques — Sgraffito & Stencils!Tuesdays, June 10, 17, 24, July 1 & 15, From 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., with the last class of the series from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.In this 5-week series, students will learn the basics of handbuilding to create functional pieces with an emphasis on decorative techniques. Working with mid fire clay, we will explore various methods of building forms and decorative techniques with underglazes and slips.Students will complete multiple projects throughout the course while applying handmade stencils and layering techniques with colorful patterns as well textured colorful designs using the sgraffito technique. Discover the variety of ways seeds may fly, float, or burst into the world! They will also explore amazing nests—spring is an exciting time for birds. Discover all the unique nests built by our feathered friends, from tiny “hummers” to intricate weavers.There will also be an Eco-Scavenger Hunt + Craft, live animals, face painting, and a bounce house. Together with their band, named Mutts of the Planet after a lyric line in one of Mitchell’s songs, Adler and Blackburn have performed six of Joni’s albums in their entirety, and released two albums of their own of original arrangements.
