Saturday | April 26 | All Day ~ Starts at 9 a.m.! Join us at San Diego Craft Collective as the San Diego County Spinners (last year's worldwide winner!) compete in the annual "International Back to Back Wool Challenge"--shearing a sheep, carding, spinning and knitting a sweater as fast as they can! This is an annual event that challenges teams of wool crafters around the globe to create a jumper directly from a sheep's back to a human's back. Each team consists of a blade shearer, a country-of-origin sheep and seven hand spinners (with spinning wheels) and knitters who follow the identical challenge rules and pattern to knit the adult size jumper. This event includes: live sheep shearing at 9 a.m., vendors, live-timed spinning and knitting of the wool sweater, guided practice with a drop spindle, spinning wheels, knitting machines and weaving demonstrations! For the first time ever, Vista Unified School District is combining its popular CTE Showcase and STEM Fest into one event - The STEM2Career Expo, which will be held at Vista High School on Wednesday, March 26 from 5 - 7 p.m. Student projects and demos include virtual welding stations, a cooking demo, a catapult challenge, photo portrait station, more. CTE teachers from Vista High, Rancho Buena Vista, and Mission Vista will be on hand to speak to visitors and give further information about the curriculum. A special element of the CTE showcase is that many of the businesses that have provided VUSD students with internship opportunities will be present. These include Sea Spine, The Vista Chamber of Commerce, Vista Firefighters, Mathnasium, VPSD Media, Balfour Beatty, Vista Community Clinic, Electrical Training Institute, and more. The decision to merge the two shows into one larger event provides the perfect opportunity to showcase the breadth and depth of what a unified school district can achieve, aided by a large array of student demonstrations. The STEM2Career Expo will be held at Vista High School’s gymnasium, the outside quad area, and in several classrooms.

For over 20 years, the Maritime Museum of San Diego has been proud to host popular, award-winning educational events that provide exceptional hands-on learning experiences for youth and student groups year-round. Scouts BSA youth are invited to earn their Oceanography Merit Badge at the Maritime Museum of San Diego by attending one of three engaging Saturday classes. Each session runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and scouts need only attend one class to complete the badge requirements. This unique program gives local scouts a chance to dive deep into oceanography—right in the heart of San Diego’s waterfront. Through a dynamic mix of field work, hands-on lab activities, and thought-provoking discussion, Oceanography Merit Badge Days immerse participants in the many branches of oceanographic research. Each scout or group must be accompanied by at least one parent or adult chaperone. All Scouts BSA Youth Protection guidelines must be followed. Reservations must be made online in advance. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact your troop leader ahead of time to request your Oceanography Merit Badge and bring your signed Blue Card to class. Ensure at least one adult leader accompanies each scout or group. Songwriter Sanctuary is back Friday, April 25 with “in the round” performances by Mr. Lyrical Groove, Mandi, and Kaylee Daugherty. About the Artists Mandi is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and keys player drawn to soulful, genre-blending music. Known for her ear for harmony, she enjoys creating and recording background vocals, and often supports others as a studio musician or music director. Offstage, she teaches middle school choir, music, and soon orchestra, helping young artists tap into their creativity. Kaylee Daugherty is a staple singer of the San Diego jazz scene as well as a singer-songwriter. She has had the privilege to play at some of Socal’s finest establishments, including Music Box, The Jazz Lounge, Dizzy’s, and the Westgate with San Diego’s best jazz musicians, including Irving Flores, Ed Kornhauser and Mikan Zlatkovich. Kaylee’s favorite part of performing is bringing joy to her audiences. Her music makes kids dance and gives older folk a sigh of nostalgia. Kaylee is personable and interactive with her audiences, and, by inviting them into her musical world, builds a sense of community within each venue. Kendrick Dial, artistically known as Mr. Lyrical Groove is a multidisciplinary artist, spoken word poet, and front man of the award-winning band The Lyrical Groove, known for blending soul, hip-hop, and thought-provoking lyricism. With experience as a Navy veteran, creative & executive coach and leadership trainer, he brings a unique blend of structure and soul to his work. His creative work fuses personal narrative with cultural commentary, using music, poetry, and performance as tools for healing and social change. The Revolution in the Orchard April 26 and 27, 2025, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Celebrate the 250th anniversary of the battles of Lexington and Concord with us. These battles marked the beginning of the American War of Independence. guests experienced a taste of the founding of our great nation. Volunteer historians and reenactors from all over the United States gathered at this event to share living history with guests. This family-friendly event featured dozens of historical interpreters who represented the soldiers and civilians of the American Revolution and demonstrated all aspects of daily and military life. Important Note: Due to the nature of this event, there will be loud noises, such as blank gunshots and cannon firings, throughout the day. Julian Farm and Orchard is open for this special event.
