  • Marino Gomez is a Chicano artist from Sherman Heights in San Diego, California. Starting in 2020, he initially made use of his basic photoshop skills and spare parts of action figures he could find at swapmeets and online. His work utilizes a mix of digital and physical media to create custom art toys, sometimes referred to as bootleg toys. Along with some sculpting, he makes use of a process known as "kitbashing" which involves piecing together new and old action figures to create a new and custom piece. He seeks to introduce the audience to his eclectic work of bootleg toys where he reimagines cultural icons in this debut solo exhibition.
