Come celebrate National Tennis Month! San Diego Tennis Fest is a FREE afternoon of fun tennis games and on-court clinics for people of all ages and ability levels, from beginners to seasoned players. With 25 tennis courts being used at Balboa Tennis Club (2221 Morley Field Dr., San Diego, CA 92104), there are over 70 teaching pros from around San Diego County, many of which are RSPA/USPTA certified. New this year, many more adult beginner clinic courts, specially designed to help new adult players master the fundamentals—technique, movement, grips, and smart shot selection. Theater for Young Professionals is holding auditions for "CHICAGO" Teen Edition, our third show of the 2025 season, on Monday, June 23 from 4:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. at our rehearsal space at 7960 University Ave, Suite 240/250, La Mesa CA 91942. Callbacks are by invitation only on Tuesday, June 24 from 4:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. This show is for actors 12 years old and older. To register for an audition time, please email your headshot and resume to Jessica at jessica@typsandiego.org. Please prepare a one-minute song selection in a musical theater style. You will sing with a backing track that you provide. NO a cappella auditions. Please check-in 15 minutes prior to your audition time. We will consider video auditions. **If you have been in one of our shows over the past year, then you are not required to audition. However, you must send us an email indicating your interest. You will be invited straight to callbacks. We are looking for a diverse cast to bring this popular musical to life. We will consider double casting some of the roles if needed. Please let us know if you are interested in splitting a role with another actor. The rehearsal and show schedule are below. Actors are allowed two conflicts, but we prefer they not have any conflicts. You are not allowed to have a conflict the two week before tech or during tech week. There is a production fee of $400 for company members, $475 for non-company members, and parents are required to volunteer at the box office for two performances. "Gretel: the Musical" - a folk rock dive into the fairy tale... Join us on Saturday, July 5 at the City Heights Performance Annex for a FREE performance of "Gretel: the Musical," presented by Riot Productions, Inc. Featuring indie folk rock music on cello, guitar and cajon by composer Jenn Hartman Luck, this retelling of the classic Russian folk tales around “Hansel and Gretel” focuses on the women and girls of the fairy tales. Gretel processes the grief at the death of her mother and the rejection of her stepfamily while on the hero’s journey, facing knights and witches, spells and curses, and through it all the question–how will she survive? Featuring: Priya Richards as Gretel, with BJ Robinson, vocals and cajon, Sarah LeClair, vocals and cajon, Lyric Boothe, vocals and guitar, and Sharon Taylor, cello.
