The Theatre School @ North Coast Rep presents this pastoral romantic comedy, "As You Like It", as its next student production that will tour to three different outdoor venues in three different cities - Admission is free! Banishment, forlorn lovers, a sardonic fool, an even more moody pity party in the woods… What better set-up for a comedy?! Find out why “All the world’s a stage” and share in the celebration of family reuniting, past wrongs forgiven, and love, at last, won by all. “I like this place, and willingly could waste my time in it.” Director Benjamin Cole is proud to present this emotional roller-coaster for four sets of couples as they attempt to cure their love sickness or allow themselves to fall fully head over heels while still taking time to philosophize about the beauty of nature versus the ridiculousness of courtly manners. “I love the annual tradition we have established in North County San Diego of offering free live student Shakespeare performances in these outdoor venues,” Cole explains. “Each of the venues gives our students unique opportunities to expand their acting skills, and further their understanding and appreciation of both Shakespeare and the incredible outdoors we have the privilege to visit,” he expounds. Assistant Director, Steve Smith adds, “The cast of As You Like It is one of the most talented groups we’ve had at the Theatre School, but even more importantly, they’re tremendously supportive of one another and excel in collaboration. There’s something for all theatregoers in this show: characters who are lovesick and characters who are sick of love, hilarious clowns and heroic figures, battles of wit and a wrestling match.” The show runs a pleasing 90 minutes with no intermission and hopes to inspire a greater acceptance of each other and our places in this world. Her Universe, the fandom fashion company created by actress Ashley Eckstein, is bringing its geek couture fashion show back to rock the runway at San Diego Comic-Con for the ninth year — but there are changes afoot. This year, the Fashion Show is presented by both Hot Topic (a former sponsor) and Disney (a new sponsor), on Thursday, June 20 at 6pm at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel. The Wrap revealed additional details about this year’s fashion show, which will be in celebration of Disney’s 100th anniversary. This year’s event will be co-hosted by Eckstein and Michael James Scott, currently starring in the Broadway production of “Aladdin” as The Genie. Scott is expected to perform, which should make for a magical evening. Sponsors Hot Topic and Disney will be transforming the lobby into an immersive experience celebrating the 30th anniversary of the classic stop-motion film "The Nightmare Before Christmas." OFF SITE near San Diego Convention Center Adult Swim is back in full force with their Adult Swim Festival on the Green. From Thursday, July 20 – Saturday, July 22, you’ll find three days of meet and greets, music, comedy, games, giveaways, and more. All events are 18+. While the meet & greet’s and entertainment are now sold out (unless more tickets pop up randomly), there’s still plenty of fun to be found at the Adult Swim Festival. Fans will be able to stop by for a break and a snack at The Toasting Room: A Pop-Tarts Dining Experience, which will offer a delectable three-course prix-fixe menu (featuring, of course, a variety of Pop-Tarts flavors and Pop-Tarts swag). The event will last around ten minutes, with a total of 8 people max in the experience at each time. No reservations are required for this, it will be first come/first serve. The brilliant comic team of Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen (Ebenezer Scrooge’s BIG San Diego Christmas Show) brings to 1860s Russia the same whacked-out sensibility they gave to Dickens in this world-premiere, Globe-commissioned comedy. This classic story follows Raskolnikov, an impoverished student who becomes a murderer in order to save his family. Based on the book you didn’t actually read in high school, this is literature retold like you’ve never seen it before.
